Family Day

Last Saturday, we had a very fun outing in daddy's company's Family Day. This fun occasion was one of the many events held to commemorate the company's 25th anniversary. The weather was extremely good and that was one crucial "requirement" met because all the activities were held outdoors, in the parking lot of the factory compound...

Yes, daddy works in a semiconductor factory and hence contributes to "Made in China" goods. We have since learned not to look down on things that are Made in China hahahaha! If you own a smartphone, camera or drive a luxury car, there is a high chance of them containing electronic components made in this factory ;)

There were quite a lot of activities for kids... I enjoyed doing sand art too

We had lunch at the factory cafeteria but it was a catered meal from McD. I squealed in delight when I saw the Happy Meal box! :) However, they didn't serve fries (which was a good thing) and it was replaced by a grapefruit instead. 

These were all stuffed inside my Happy Meal box. Daddy had 4 meal vouchers so we had 4 of everything which was way too much for us to finish. We ended up lugging around 3 bottles of Coke, 2 grapefruits and 2 pieces of chicken chop... until we reached home!

Daddy brought us for a factory tour. The screens on the right are actually videos of the production floor in real time. He showed us his work station so now we know what daddy does at work every day :)

At the end of the event, we made some gift redemptions. There were not many choices left (all the good gifts were snapped up) so we went for these made-on-the-spot ones...

Mummy ordered a giraffe one for me and the uncle got it done in under 30 seconds. Amazing!

And finally, we also redeemed a Dove toiletries pack and this cute "pillow" shaped like a bunch of bananas :)

Eating Out 5 - Yunnan Restaurant

It was just one of our casual jalan-jalan cari makan weekends and something in this restaurant attracted us to dine here... 

Also curious to sample some Yunnan cuisine so we thought, why not?

The highlight of this restaurant (to us) has got to be its menu with crappy but amusing English translation :D Some of them were so funny that they had us in stitches. Reading the restaurant menu seemed to be more enjoyable than the actual dining itself haha! Here are just some of them...

Now, here's what we ordered... the food here was quite good, surprisingly (although it might not appear so in these pics)...

Crossing the Bridge Noodle... the soup was very tasty (something like Chinese herbs). Just put everything into the piping hot soup (hot enough to cook the raw egg). Then just mix and eat. Nice :)

Ask God

I did a quiz on my own and happily announced to mummy...

Me: Mummy, I got all the answers correct and I didn't even look at the answers! (I always have to mention this and mummy thinks it is a giveaway that I lied)

Mummy: Bluff.

Me: Really!

Mummy: Bluff.

Me: Reeeaaaalllly. I'm not bluffing!

Mummy: Bluff.

Me: You ask God!

Mummy: ........

I really, really didn't bluff **flash the most unconvincing look**

My First Dental Visit

Last week, I complained to mummy several times that I had a toothache. On one of the nights, the pain was so intense that I could not eat my dinner. Every chew hurt! Daddy then made an appointment for me to see a dentist on the nearest Saturday.

My very first experience in a dental clinic

Upon examination, the dentist found not one but three cavities on three of my teeth. 3 cavities??? HORRORS!! Despite the strict oral hygiene imposed by mummy, which includes daily flossing since age 3, mandatory mouth-rinsing after food, closely monitored brushing and minimal intake of candies, I still ended up with bad teeth. After all the effort she had put in to take care of my teeth, this news was a big blow to mummy. At the same time, she also regretted not bringing me for regular dental check-ups... all the time believing that her preventive measures were good enough. Silly her! 

I had one big cavity on my pre-molar (milk tooth) and two tiny cavities on two of my first molars (permanent teeth). All 3 of them required filling. It was here that daddy and mummy learned a shocking fact that I already have permanent molars at this age. So ignorant! *shake head*

Daddy and mummy's brave little girl... although this was my first tooth-filling, I remained calm throughout the entire procedure and was very co-operative! I was not scared at all :)

The decayed pre-molar was the one giving problem because it had affected my gums, causing swelling and inflammation hence the pain. The dentist only dealt with this tooth for this visit (we have to make another trip there to settle the other two later because the dentisit did not want to traumatise me with too much drilling in my first visit). Just a simple procedure of tooth filling for this one tooth and guess what? Daddy was slapped with a RMB930 (RM465) bill!

Slaughtered!

As mentioned before in one of my earlier posts, healthcare in China is extremely costly. Luckily daddy's company insurance paid for most of it, so daddy needed to fork out only RMB60 (RM30) for this visit. Phew!!

After leaving the dental clinic, we went for lunch and shopping as usual (our favourite weekend pastime) and look what mummy found...

Cute floss!! Yes, she is quite obsessed with dental flosses so she immediately grabbed a pack and suggested I bring one to school so that I can floss my teeth after lunch every day! @-@

A Day in Zhongshan Park

The much awaited "Golden Week" has finally come and gone without us doing anything special or going anywhere interesting. "Golden Week" here refers to the 3-day National Day public holiday (Yes, three days. Grand, eh?) where the locals usually take additional days off either before or after the connecting weekends to enjoy a 7-day holiday. My school was closed for a week while daddy had a 3-day break from work so what did we do? We just hid at home, as advised by daddy's colleagues. According to them, the chaos created by the massive local holidaymakers was something not worth experiencing haha!

We did go out for a few simple outings though, and targeted places that were of no interest to tourists. One of them was Zhongshan Park. We went there on 1st October - China's National Day.

There wasn't much to see here actually... not many flowers and some even looked droopy and withered :(

We heard music blaring from a distance and then came across a big group of middle-aged to elderly couples doing ballroom dancing in an open space in the park... so romantic <3 

Spotted something which looked like the famous "Louvre"...

... which turned out to be the entrance to a Metro (subway) station haha.

We then walked over to a nearby mall - Cloud Nine Mall. This was the mall that we frequented back in January when we were still staying in the Longemont Hotel. Mummy bought some winter clothing for me from Uniqlo and daddy bought a (very cheap) Lego sorter from TRU. We were also delighted to spot our favourite Gong Cha!

We had a simple no-meat meal in a restaurant near home. We are currently trying to cut down on meat or even totally eliminate if possible when eating out (mummy buys "organic meat" for home cooking) thus the simple meal below...
