Puke Princess and Her Justification

In our recent flight back from Hong Kong to Shanghai (we flew Cathay Pacific and had to transit in HKG from KUL), I played "Puke Princess" again after having this meal on board...

I enjoyed the meal very much (especially the dim sum from mummy's tray)...

However, I started feeling queasy towards the end of the flight and as the plane was "circling in the air" preparing to land, I did it again. This time around, the air sickness pouch was already on standby so it was a mess-free affair :) As mummy was putting away the partially-filled puke pouch, she teased me...

Mummy: See, you wasted the Haagen Dazs ice cream and all the nice food. They are all inside here now *pointed to the puke pouch*
Me: No! I've already tasted and enjoyed it so it is NOT wasted. Even if I didn't vomit this out, later when I poo-poo, it will also come out of my body wat...

Ask God

I did a quiz on my own and happily announced to mummy...

Me: Mummy, I got all the answers correct and I didn't even look at the answers! (I always have to mention this and mummy thinks it is a giveaway that I lied)
Mummy: Bluff.
Me: Really!
Mummy: Bluff.
Me: Reeeaaaalllly. I'm not bluffing!
Mummy: Bluff.
Me: You ask God!
Mummy: ........

I really, really didn't bluff **flash the most unconvincing look**

Cute Pancakes

Inspired by the many cute-pancake-making videos and ideas that mummy saw on Facebook, she decided to try making some yesterday.

She reused this Kewpie mayonnaise bottle, which has just-the-right-size nozzle and makes a good batter dispenser

I was very eager and excited because I love pancakes. While mummy was busy "drawing" and flipping the pancakes, I stood beside her the whole time to watch (and eat all the failed, distorted ones haha). As it turned out, making these cuties was NOT as easy is it looked. The batter that mummy made this round was too runny so she had difficulty controlling drips and smears. Here are some of the "can see" ones that she made...

Animals, smiley face and...

...simple shapes and patterns

Miffy (the rabbit) followed me to school today as my mid-morning snack :)

Oh yes, one of mummy's attempts to make Hello Kitty failed miserably. Hello Kitty was hideously disfigured and we both had a good laugh over it. Suddenly, I rushed out of the kitchen and returned a minute later with my doodle board. Pointing to my drawing, I added "Your Hello Kitty is not that ugly la. See, mine is uglier". Hahaha!

Battle of the ugly kitty... I drew it not so nicely on purpose (I could do better than this) to make mummy feel better... aaaww! :)

Too Much Colouring!!

Mummy suggested this doll jelly cake for my birthday next month and my first response was "Nooooo! It has too much colouring!" My health-freak-like comment really caught mummy by surprise haha!

Pic taken from jellycakehouse website

This attractive jelly cake may look impressive to many little girls out there (maybe including old ladies like mummy) but I shook my head in disapproval because I found it too colourful for consumption.

I also had another good reason for rejecting this "cake". I told mummy "I already have a Barbie doll at home. Why do I need so many dolls for?" Yeah, true also. Besides, I hardly play with dolls!

In the end, I told her "Just go to Citta Mall and buy Wondermilk cupcakes for me".

Want and Don't Want

One day, while having a meal together, I kept "stealing glances" at daddy's fish and chips (although mine was something equally unhealthy and delicious). Sensing my interest in his food, daddy offered...

Daddy: You want some of my fish?
Me: Want and don't want.
Daddy: Huh? What do you mean? Want means want. Don't want means don't want.
Me: Actually I want but I don't want to take some from you because I'm afraid you won't have enough to eat...
Daddy: *Awww*

~ The sensible thoughts of a little girl who loves and adores her daddy to bits! ~

I love him sooooooooooo much!

Things I Say

Which Is More Important?
After being told by mummy for the umpteenth time to do my writing (Chinese homework) and put away my play tent (because she wanted to mop the floor), I finally moved my butt and proceeded with my writing first. It was then mummy started her usual nagging...
Mummy: I told you to keep the tent... bla bla bla... how many times must I tell you... bla bla bla... do you ever listen... bla bla bla...
Me: But writing is more important ok!

Setting my priorities right... homework first!

It's the Prunes!
I usually move my bowel every alternate days. Sometimes, I will poop daily but twice a day is definitely rare, which was what happened one day...
Mummy: Eh, how come you poo-poo twice today? What did you eat?
Me: I think it must be the prunes.
Mummy: But you didn't eat any prunes today, did you? You also didn't eat any yesterday, right?
Me: But I did last time... long ago!

Her Black Stuff
I always help mummy at the check-out counter at supermarkets. While helping to unload things from the shopping trolley to the cashier counter, I pushed all the fruits to one side, shook my head and mumbled "You and all your black-black stuff!"

Mummy wasn't aware that she has chosen all the dark-coloured fruits... grapes, plums, cherries and blueberries and I was quick to point that out to her haha.

Beauty Spots
I have tiny little "white heads" on my face occasionally and mummy likes to pinch them to remove them. Every time she does that, I will protest (cos it's painful!). Mummy still does the pinching despite my repeated protest so one day, I came up with a new excuse...
Me: Don't remove it! It's my beauty spot!
Mummy: LOL!

Can you spot my "beauty spot"?

Singing Da Ca
Mummy was happily singing one of the songs from my JMC CD when I interrupted her one day...
Me: Mummy, you sing da ca!
Mummy: Huh??
Me: You sing da ca la. Da ca means wrong (putting a cross in Mandarin). You sing wrong!

I Love Them, I Love Them Not!

Because I Have You
On the way to school one day, while walking hand in hand with me (we walk to school every morning), mummy felt very happy, blessed and contented so she asked me...

Mummy: Are you a happy child?
Me: Yes!
Mummy: What makes you happy?
Me: When I am with you, I feel happy. I am happy because I have you and daddy :)
Mummy related this to daddy and both their hearts melted.

Sick, Sick lah
It was raining one morning so we did not walk to school. Mummy drove me there and wanted to drop me off at the covered lobby area so that neither of us would get wet. I did not want to get down on my own and insisted that she parked the car in the open carpark and use an umbrella to go down with me...

Mummy: What if I get wet in the rain and fall sick?
Me: Sick, sick lah... after that, you will get well wat!
Mummy: *rolls eyes* *heart shattered*

Daddy's Back-Stabber
Mummy the fussy clean-freak wipes my bicycle (esp the tyres) after each ride outside, before it is allowed to be pushed into the house. While she was wiping my bicycle one day...

Mummy: *in complain mode* You always make me spend so much time wiping your bicycle. See, I help you wipe until it's so sparkling clean! (expecting me to thank her)
Me: Ya la, not like daddy.... cincai wipe only! (daddy was not at home then)
Daddy: *shakes head* *heart shattered*

Good girl or bad girl?

I Love You One Million

I am very generous with my I Love Yous and will unabashedly declare it to my loved ones (usually family members).

A few months ago, I started adding numbers to express the degree of my love to whoever that special someone is. I started with 10... Mummy, I love you ten (as in a score of 10/10).

Then, it was increased to 100 and subsequently, 1000. Mummy, I love you one hundred thousand.

Recently, the numbers have skyrocketed to the -ions... million, billion, trillion etc. and even "all the numbers" (my own words for infinity).

From the simple I love you, I'm now fond of saying I love you one thousand, one million, billion, trillion and all the big numbers! I say it so often that sometimes the phrase loses its true meaning. This is evident in one of my recent conversations with mummy...

Me: Mummy...
Mummy: Hmmm?
Me: Mummy...
Mummy: Yes?
Me: Mummy....
Mummy: WHAT?
Me: I love you one million, trillion and all the big numbers *smile* Actually I want to tell you something else but I've forgotten what I want to say so I just say I love you first lah *grin*

It works well as a conversation "filler" too hehe!

A few weeks ago, daddy came across this comic strip "Pickles" (it's one of mummy's favourite comic strips) where Nelson the boy said something similar. What a coincidence! Or do many other kids say the same thing too?

Nelson is so like me... but I guess I'm much more "generous" than him hehe!

Things I Say

As If I know
The following Monday after visiting the Melaka Zoo, I returned home from school and proudly announced to mummy...
Me: Mummy, I told Aaron (my classmate and best friend) that I went to the zoo that day.
Mummy: Oh, did you tell him that it's the Melaka Zoo?
Me: No, I just said zoo only. I don't think he knows where Melaka is anyway... (as if I know haha!)

Terms of Endearment
Our bedtime chats often lead to amusing endings...

Mummy: Ok, no more talking. It's time to sleep now. Good night!
Me: Good night what?
Mummy: Good night, cutie pie!
Me: Good night, tomato pie!
Mummy: *smile* Good night, lil pumpkin!
Me: Good night, lil coconut!
Mummy: Coconut? *giggle* Good night, sweet darling!
Me: Good night, sweet potato!
Mummy: *roll on bed laughing* (It is so NOT flattering to be called a "sweet potato" a.k.a "fan shu" in Chinese haha!)

Heng Pie Na
One day, as I was drawing some cats...

Me: Mummy, do you know that the cat's nose is actually heng pie na?
Mummy: Huh? Heng pie na?
Me: You see... heng... pie... na! (referring to the strokes of the Chinese character "you" 又) It's like writing Chinese hehehe.
Mummy: Yes! You are absolutely correct. Clever la you!

Cats! Can you spot all the "heng pie na" in my drawing?

Things I Say

Love? What Love?
I was sitting on mummy's lap and leaning on her when she started kissing, cuddling and squeezing me tightly...
Mummy: I love you sooooooooo much. So, so, so much! Can you feel my love?
Me: No, but I can feel your bones... and your skeleton!
Mummy: *Rolling on the floor laughing*

The Nursery Rhyme Critic
While reading (not singing) a popular rhyme one day...
Me: Twinkle, twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are... *paused for a moment and went into smart alec mode* It's a star lah. Why need to wonder? Why like that also don't know?

American Influence
I asked for a few sips of Revive isotonic drink in Pizza Hut recently...

Me: Mummy, my tongue feels prickly when I drink this.
Mummy: That's because the drink has gas in it.
Me: Gas? You mean it has petrol in it? *laughs*
Mummy: @_@

If It's Not Nice, It's Gotta Be Bad

While walking along some eateries in The Curve during the school holidays, a very friendly staff at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. greeted us Good Morning and gave me a balloon. Mummy paid no attention to the balloon at all until much later when I told her...

Me: Mummy, there's a bad word on my balloon.
Mummy: Bad word? What bad word?
Me: Neh, you see... *shoved the balloon to her*

I am not allowed to mention the S word because long, long ago, (when I was only 2 years 6 months) mummy told me that stupid is not a nice word to say. Therefore, I just I referred to it as the "bad word" haha.

The words on the balloon made mummy wonder... of all the quotes in the Forrest Gump movie, why did they choose to print this one on a balloon meant for kids? Probably they didn't expect the kids to read them! Do you read what's printed on your balloon?

The Things I Say

Something Gross
Mummy never fails to do a "stool check" every time she cleans me up after my "big business". One day, she took a peek into the toilet bowl as usual and commented...

Mummy: Eeeeeeee... your poo-poo looks like the ice-cream that we had in Penang.
Me: Then you take out and eat lah!
Mummy: ..............

Too Hungry
I walked into the kitchen one day while mummy was busy preparing dinner...

Me: Mummy, is dinner ready yet?
Mummy: No, not yet.
Me: But I'm very, very hungry. I'm thiiiiiiis hungry *stretched my hands wide all the way to the back* You faster say "Oh, my poor darling" lah.
Mummy: Ooh, my poor darling....
Me: Hehehehe... *pranced away happily*

Kindergarden
Me: Mummy, when I'm in K2, it will be 2012, right?
Mummy: Yes. And in 2013, you will go to Standard 1.
Me: In 2013, I will go to a real school? A big girl's school?
Mummy: Yes.
Me: Now, I'm in P&J Kindergarden. It's only a garden, not a real school, right?

The Snake Story
I have very dry, scaly and flaky skin, especially on my legs. Mummy says if I don't apply lotion after bath everyday, my skin is going to look like a snake. One day, this was what I told her...

Me: Mummy, if you don't put lotion on my legs, I will die.
Mummy: Hey, cannot say that!
Me: If you don't put lotion, then I will turn into a snake. Y
ou hate snakes so much (yes, mummy ABHORS snakes), you will step on me and kill me. Then no more me already lor! Die lor!

Heart-warming
Me: Mummy! Mummy! Mummmmmyyyyyyyyy!
Mummy: Yes?
Me: I LOVE YOU *big smile* I love you sooooooooooo much!
Mummy: Why do you love me so much?
Me: Because you always take good care of me!

A Warning
A few days after the "lost and found" incident in Amcorp Mall...

Me: Mummy, if you don't take care of me properly, I will be lost forever and ever ah! I'm warning you ah!
Mummy: Ok, ok... I know...

Unfinished Lunch
Mummy always finds bits and pieces of unfinished lunch in my lunch box. Sometimes, it can be just a small corner of a piece of bread or just two grapes.

Mummy: Why can't you just eat this up? So little also want to bring home...
Me: Because I don't want to be the last. Teacher says who finish last must wipe the table. I don't want to wipe the table!

I'm a Kiasu Girl

Lately, I am getting more and more kiasu (afraid of losing). I like to be the No. 1 in everything that I do. I hate losing (in a game) and I dislike my mistakes to be pointed out.

- In a game, whenever I sense that I'm about to lose, I will quickly declare "I want to be the loser in this game!" When I really lose, I will gleefully say "See, I told you I want to be the loser". What a cunning way to "save face"!

- When walking towards the car or a door, I will quicken my footsteps, as if in a race, and quickly touch the car or door while proudly announcing "I reach first!" The same goes when we are walking down the stairs (of my school) where I always want to reach the ground first. Sometimes I would even walk down two steps at a time! Knowing how dangerous this is, mummy has to keep reminding me that she will let me win.

-I don't quite like being told that I'm wrong. Whenever I make mistakes, I will try to defend it with excuses. Sometimes my excuses can be quite logical, although not necessary applicable, like this instance...

Me: Mummy, mummy... I can spell "book".
Mummy: Spell...
Me: B-O-O-C
Mummy: Huh? Wrong! Spell again. *knowing that I know the correct spelling*
Me: B-O-O-C lah. Can use C also because C also has the /k/ sound ma...
Mummy: .............

The girl who is afraid to lose

If only I'm this kiasu in my studies in the near future...

Conserving Energy

I may only be four years old but I sure know a thing or two about energy conservation.

Scenario 1
It was an exceptionally quiet evening at home. The tv was switched off and I was playing quietly on my own. Mummy told me to turn the radio on. I refused (probably too lazy to move my butt) so I said "No, just now we listened to CD already. Don't listen so many times lah. Waste electricity!"

Scenario 2
I like to cruise around the house on my little police car (second-hand from cousin Jeremy). Everywhere I go, be it to the kitchen, bedroom or bathroom which are just a few footsteps away, I will "drive" there. One day, mummy asked...
Mummy: Why do you have to ride on this all the time? Isn't it faster and easier to just walk?
Me: But I don't want to waste my energy.

The car is a bit too small for me now but I love it too much to let it go...

The same thing applies when we are out shopping. Most of the time, I will just sit lazily on my stroller because I'm too lazy to walk, citing "I don't have energy to walk" as an excuse. Yes, can you believe that I'm still very dependent on my stroller when we are out shopping? As I'm getting heavier and heavier by the day, mummy believes that the stroller is going to fall apart very soon haha!

The 4-Year-Old Says...

Ah Ma was trying to explain a volcano eruption to me. She said something about "very, very hot liquid coming out" (trying to make it comprehensible for me) to which I told her "That's called lava lah!"

***************************************************

When I saw a banana (detached from the bunch but un-peeled) on the dining table, I walked over to mummy and asked "Why did you pull out the banana and didn't eat it? Afterwards oxidized how?" l

(To me, any fruit that has been left exposed and uneaten will get oxidized)

***************************************************

I was playing with my favourite magnet toy when mummy interrupted me and asked if my cube could spin. Instantly, I replied "Of course! It's symmetrical!"

(Daddy had earlier taught me that in order to make an object/ structure from this magnet building set spin, it must be symmetrical in shape)

Watch my magnet creation spin... I made this all by myself!

Money Talk and Other Talks

During our recent visit to Pavilion, mummy let me toss 10 sen into the Pavilion Crystal Fountain. Right after that, I told her...

Me: I like throwing coin into the fountain.
Mummy: Would you like to throw another one? (She had in mind to give me just 5 sen)
Me: No, don't want to waste money!

Both daddy and mummy were pleasantly surprised and beaming with pride when they heard that. They have never mentioned the phrase "waste money" to me before and they were glad that I had some basic money sense in me.

Prudent girl... it's in the blood hehe!

Other Talk 1
I was talking non-stop from school all the way back home, right up to my bath and lunch. After about 20 minutes' of endless chattering, I took a deep breath, paused and said, "I don't want to talk anymore. Talk until my tongue also tired already!"

Other Talk 2
Mummy was talking to me while I was having my lunch. She asked me something but I was too "busy" to answer her. She asked again and I continued to ignore her, while chomping down my meal like a hungry horse. Slightly annoyed, she asked again in an angry tone, "I'm talking to you! Can you please answer me?" Equally irked by her endless questions, I retorted, "I'm too hungry to talk right now. Ask me later!"

A Doctor Wannabe

I was playing "doctor-doctor" all by myself, examining some imaginary patients when suddenly, I called out mummy's name...

"L-H-L (called out her full-name, haha)... it's your turn".

Surprised, mummy turned to look at me and then burst into laughter when she saw that thing hanging around my neck... a make-believe "stethoscope" that I had created.

Service with a smile... how can I help you, sir?

Mummy was in for more surprises when I told her "Come, I want to give you an injection", while trying to poke a pen on her arm. She has never mentioned or taught me the word "injection" before. And then I added "I want to be a doctor because I want to take care of people". Oh really? Do kids have such an "ambition" at 3 years 9 months?

Conditional Love

Mummy was glued to her laptop as usual when I went over to her, hugged her and said I Love You.

Me: Mummy, I love yoooooooou...
Mummy: Really? Why do you love me?
Me: Because it's Mother's Day ma..
Mummy: *Ceh, was expecting a more flattering answer* What if it's not Mother's Day? Will you still love me?
Me: *Very spontaneously* NOPE!
Mummy: *frowned*

And then I continued... (this part was not expected)

Me: Daddy also same. When it's Father's Day, I love daddy. When it is not, I don't love him.

*Crrraaaashhhh* I can almost hear daddy and mummy's hearts shatter into bits haha!

An "Ah Choo" Story

What do you do when you are about to sneeze and your mouth is full? Here's what happened while I was having my dinner a few days ago:

With a mouth full of rice, I had a sudden urge to sneeze. *Ah choo... ah choo..... ah choo* I sneezed, three times in a row. After that, I smiled and looked very impressed, as if I had just performed a great feat. I then asked mummy "Do you know why my rice didn't fly out? Because I kept them here *pointing to my cheeks*

Daddy and mummy burst into laughter after hearing my explanation. In just that split second, I managed to quickly "evacuate" my food to a "safer" place haha!

Full of antics, even during mealtimes

Something About the Sun and the Stars

Sometimes, like many other kids out there, I say the darnest things...

Silly remark about the sun
It was a very hot and sunny afternoon. As mummy was drawing the curtains in the living room to reduce the glare, I turned to look at her and said "Mummy, why can't you just switch off the sunlight?"

Funny remark about the stars
Mummy was wearing this Baby Phat t-shirt at home...

While lying down comfortably next to each other, I ran my fingers across the "diamonds" on her t-shirt and exclaimed "Constellations!" Hahaha!
