The Cheerleader

Backdated post: 4/4/2014

For this year's International Friendship Day, we have been practicing hard in our Dance and Drama classes for a football-themed musical production titled We Are One. This was also in conjunction with the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup. We sang and danced to famous football songs and samba-style dances. It was a very lively and colourful show!

There were only two roles for everyone in this special concert... we were either the footballers (the main casts with acting roles) or the cheerleaders (the rest who sang and danced in the background). I was a cheerleader...

Me in my red and yellow cheerleader jersey... cool, eh?

On the actual concert day... eager to go to school!

The concert was held in a theatre quite a distance away from home. Daddy took time off from work to watch me perform.

... show the world we are one!

Here we go... ole ole ole! Go, go, go... ole ole ole!

Zoomed in from afar... I was actually smiling at the camera haha!

Schoolbag

After attending pre-school for nearly 1.5 years, it suddenly dawned on mummy that she has never bought me a decent schoolbag!

All this while, I have been using these small and flimsy bags that came as free gifts...

From left to right: Stitch sling bag, SE frog bag and SE tiger bag

Last year, when I was still in nursery class, I never brought any books home so I used the small Stitch sling back just to put my water tumbler and cap. The bag was part of the kids' activity pack courtesy of Cathay Pacific when we flew to Hong Kong last year.

This year, it was "upgraded" to the animal backpacks (that came as free gifts from Scotts Emulsion). However, both the frog and tiger bags were quite poorly made, especially the zips so their duties were short-lived.

When I broke the green zip a few weeks ago, mummy chided "Why are you so cow?" Today, mummy broke the orange one... oops! And I quickly shot back at her "Why are you so cow?

Well, we are not "cows" actually. These poor quality zips are too thin and brittle!

Broken zips from the frog and tiger bag

Fortunately, we have a new bag at home. Perfect timing. This is a "controversial" bag that sparked a heated debate between mummy and I in Parkson last week. Holding a stack of cash vouchers, mummy was feeling a bit generous and wanted to get me a sweet pink Hello Kitty backpack. I kept refusing and adamantly INSISTED on getting this Minnie Mouse one just because it was a trolley bag. Nevermind if it's cheaper than the Hello Kitty one, just as long as it's pink, got Minnie Mouse, I can PULL it, I wanted it...

My very first proper schoolbag :)

The bag parade... (hopefully it's not a case of hangat-hangat tahi ayam and mummy finds herself carrying it for me later!)

Gifts

Last weekend, I received quite a lot of gifts.

The first was a parcel from Astro. After 3 long weeks of wild goose chase with the courier company, we finally received the package on Saturday, right in the nick of time, as we were opening the door to go out! If we had gone out 30 seconds earlier, we would have missed it again. Phew!

The parcel comprised of some gifts that we have won in an online Astro contest (for Fun package subscribers) that mummy couldn't even remember participating in. We only won the consolation prize but the prizes were very attractive to me!

I love them all!

Me and my prizes... I did contribute to the winning slogan :)

My FAVOURITE was the Tigger and Pooh pop-up tent. I spent hours playing in it and even wanted to sleep in it at night haha!

Not by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin!

Chilling out with my "best friends" - Annie the baby doll and Tom the teddy bear - and putting the little portable fan to good use :)

On the very same day, Ah Ma also passed me a bag that contained goodies from Africa and Australia...

African blouse and dress given by Yee Por, who just returned from a holiday to South Africa

And the following are more goodies from Piu-yee (mummy's cousin) from Melbourne...

Easter bunny chocolates with cute bells!

Sweet purple polka dot blouse, Snakes gummy candies (my favourite!) and Disney Princesses washable marker pens

Thank you Yee Por and Piu-yee for the lovely gifts!

My First (two) Cheong-Sams

This is my first time wearing cheong-sam. Well, let the fashion show begin...

Xin nian kuai le, everyone!

Nice or not, my new dress? Very cheap, only RM16.88

Hahaha! Told you my mummy is a miser!

Mummy also spotted this blue one (exactly the same material as the pink one above) in Giant. At only RM9.88, it was silly not to grab it!

Not bad, right?

*Trying to look cute*

Are we done yet? I don't want to pose anymore...

Boring...

Enough is enough...

That's it. I'm calling it quits.

That's all, folks!

On A Wet, Wet Morning...

It was raining quite heavily this morning. Mummy wanted to send me to school by car. I protested and insisted on walking there with my raincoat and umbrella (just like the good old days). I was actually eager to use my new, cute tortoise umbrella. It was given to me by Ah Ma a few weeks ago and I have been WAITING for the perfect rainy day like this to use it. Our conflicting ideas soon led to a mini-debate...

Mummy: Car.
Me: Raincoat and umbrella.
Mummy: CAR!
Me: RAINCOAT AND UMBRELLA!
Mummy: CAR!!!
Me: RAINCOAT AND UMBRELLA!!!

Guess who won?

Raindrops keep falling on my umbrella... this is fun!

It was quite windy and I kept yelling "Mummy help, my umbrella is going to fly away!" Haha. Very good!

Ok, ok... mummy let me win first but.....

After school, the weather was still gloomy and it was drizzling a bit so mummy drove to my school to pick me up (although it was a mere few hundred metres away).

Final score: 1-1
It was a draw. Hahaha.

To Shoe With Love

It was just a pair of cheap fakes from the pasar malam but I loved it to bits. Mummy has never seen me adore something this much, well, at least not something that isn't a toy or a book.

Hello Kitty "Crocs" from the night market

At home, the shoes and I were inseparable. Mummy had it scrubbed squeaky clean and since it has never been worn outside the house, she allowed me to wear it at home. For days, I had it put on while...

watching tv...

eating...

playing...

... or just walking around the house

One night, at around midnight, when mummy came over to my bedroom put on socks for me (in the darkness), she stepped on something rubbery at the foot of my bed. She chuckled to herself when she realized it was my shoe...

I even brought it to bed hahaha!

My 1st Baju Kurung

It's the National Day party at school today! We are encouraged to wear traditional costumes again and this time, I don't have any :( The one that I wore during CNY earlier this year doesn't fit anymore and the blouse is falling apart because of mummy's horrible sewing skill hahaha!

Therefore, yesterday (night), at the very last minute, we went to a nearby Giant to hunt for a pair of baju kurung. Miser mummy was actually eyeing the cheapest one (RM19.99) that she saw in the Giant catalogue but too bad, the prints were too ugly. She ended up spending a little bit more, and got me this light, smooth and satin-y one. At RM24.99, it is still considered cheap lah. Here it is, unwashed and un-ironed *mummy covers her face*...

Mummy managed to grab a prop for me too... a small RM0.99 cloth flag.

Wearing a size 8, mind you (for 8 year olds)!

Cik Ayu? ^-^

Having this baju kurung means I will be wearing it again for the upcoming Hari Raya event next week...

Killing two birds with one stone ;)

Cute or Nerdy?

We were having lunch in Fullhouse - Lifestyle Store and Cafe. After finishing our meal, mummy went to browse the merchandises sold in the restaurant. She came across this cute, round-framed specs... and she curi-curi put it on me!

Little Miss Nerdy

As usual, I must sit on this little car before leaving...
