Cute Pancakes

Inspired by the many cute-pancake-making videos and ideas that mummy saw on Facebook, she decided to try making some yesterday.

She reused this Kewpie mayonnaise bottle, which has just-the-right-size nozzle and makes a good batter dispenser

I was very eager and excited because I love pancakes. While mummy was busy "drawing" and flipping the pancakes, I stood beside her the whole time to watch (and eat all the failed, distorted ones haha). As it turned out, making these cuties was NOT as easy is it looked. The batter that mummy made this round was too runny so she had difficulty controlling drips and smears. Here are some of the "can see" ones that she made...

Animals, smiley face and...

...simple shapes and patterns

Miffy (the rabbit) followed me to school today as my mid-morning snack :)

Oh yes, one of mummy's attempts to make Hello Kitty failed miserably. Hello Kitty was hideously disfigured and we both had a good laugh over it. Suddenly, I rushed out of the kitchen and returned a minute later with my doodle board. Pointing to my drawing, I added "Your Hello Kitty is not that ugly la. See, mine is uglier". Hahaha!

Battle of the ugly kitty... I drew it not so nicely on purpose (I could do better than this) to make mummy feel better... aaaww! :)

A Sweet Gesture

Three weeks ago, Ah Ma had a fall on the golf course (Ah Ma is an avid golfer even at her golden age of 72) and fractured her left wrist. That very weekend, we went back to Seremban to visit her. When I saw Ah Ma's hand in a cast, I showed my sympathy and "sayang-ed" her hand a few times.

The following day, after we have returned home to PJ, I did something really cute and funny. I kept blowing kisses out of the window and said "These kisses are for Ah Ma. I hope Ah Ma will catch them!" Later, I told mummy that I wanted to make a card for Ah Ma. Since it was already quite late at night, mummy just brushed off my idea and told me to do it the next day.

The next day (when mummy had totally forgotten about the card), I did it on my own. I cut a piece of A4 paper into a small card and wrote the following words...

Mummy found the word Ah Mu hilarious LOL!

I asked for the spelling for "draw", "card" and "Ah Ma" but must have heard wrongly or written wrongly thus "Ah Ma" became "Ah Mu". Mummy then helped me with another more proper card.

Girl at work... mummy was very, very happy and proud of my sweet gesture and initiative to cheer Ah Ma up

My writing... mummy spelled almost all the words for me except for my own name and I Love You

The front: Polka dots and stickers

The back: A picture of me, Ah Ma, a cat, a mountain with flowers, a tree, a sun and a rainbow

When the card was done, I picked an envelope, placed the card inside and helped mummy to affix 2 stamps on it. I also personally dropped the letter into the post box just outside our home.

Surprisingly, Pos Malaysia was super fast and efficient! Ah Ma received my card the following morning (in just over 24 hours!) She was so surprised and delighted to see my card that all her pain and agony melted away instantly! Happy Ah Ma = Happy Me :)

Gently stroking Ah Ma's bandaged hand during our 2nd visit last weekend. Ah Ma is feeling better now... with the cast taken off

Things I Say

As If I know
The following Monday after visiting the Melaka Zoo, I returned home from school and proudly announced to mummy...
Me: Mummy, I told Aaron (my classmate and best friend) that I went to the zoo that day.
Mummy: Oh, did you tell him that it's the Melaka Zoo?
Me: No, I just said zoo only. I don't think he knows where Melaka is anyway... (as if I know haha!)

Terms of Endearment
Our bedtime chats often lead to amusing endings...

Mummy: Ok, no more talking. It's time to sleep now. Good night!
Me: Good night what?
Mummy: Good night, cutie pie!
Me: Good night, tomato pie!
Mummy: *smile* Good night, lil pumpkin!
Me: Good night, lil coconut!
Mummy: Coconut? *giggle* Good night, sweet darling!
Me: Good night, sweet potato!
Mummy: *roll on bed laughing* (It is so NOT flattering to be called a "sweet potato" a.k.a "fan shu" in Chinese haha!)

Heng Pie Na
One day, as I was drawing some cats...

Me: Mummy, do you know that the cat's nose is actually heng pie na?
Mummy: Huh? Heng pie na?
Me: You see... heng... pie... na! (referring to the strokes of the Chinese character "you" 又) It's like writing Chinese hehehe.
Mummy: Yes! You are absolutely correct. Clever la you!

Cats! Can you spot all the "heng pie na" in my drawing?

A Cute Monster

I must have felt offended the other day when mummy said I couldn't draw at all (although she did not say it in front of me). Today, I surprised her with a very cute drawing. It's a monster...

Now, who said I can't draw?

I then explained my drawing to her, pointing to its 2 ears (mummy thought those were horns), 2 eyes, 2 mouths, 2 teeth and two shoes haha! Mummy was very impressed. When she praised me again and again, I beamed with pride and happiness.

Inverted Drawing and Writing

There's something strange about my drawings sometimes. Instead of drawing straightforwardly, I prefer to draw in contrast, usually darkening the background to highlight the object... like this door. I told mummy it's a door...

Look at the position of the tiny door knob haha!

Sometimes this reverse-pattern is seen in my writing too. And I even write backwards...

The letter B that didn't quite make it...

Colouring, Writing and Drawing

I'm sure there are many other kids my age who can colour better than me but to mummy, what I produce is good enough. Sometimes, when I'm not engaged in any mischevious activities, I can be the sweetest angel ever, like today, when I just did my colouring quietly while mummy was busy.

I even know how to turn the book to facilitate my strokes hehe...

Here are some of my work, all 100% done by myself:

Coloured using colour pencils.

Coloured using oil pastel. The question mark is mummy's favourite. It's so neatly done.

Most of the pictures are half-done. I always do not have the patience to complete them, citing "hand tired" as the main excuse. Haha!

As for drawing, I can't... yet. The best I can come up with are sad and angry faces. I am still unable to curve the line (of the mouth) to make my smiley faces smile.

Writing? Lagi tak boleh haha. Maybe the only letter I can write is "O" because I can draw circles.

Wires and Bananas

After scribbling something on my doodle board, I giggled to myself and then turned to daddy and said "Hehehe... BB draw wires on a banana"
