Independence Day

Today, at 1 year, 2 weeks and 3 days, mummy witnessed me walking more than 3 steps INDEPENDENTLY. Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka! I can finally walk! Though wobbly and unsteady, I managed to walk from the television set to the sofa, which is about 5-6 little steps away. This year, I bet mummy and daddy will be celebrating National Day with lots of shouting and cheering in the house (as in "Walk, BB, walk! Stand up! Come here! Walk! Walk! Come to mummy! Come to Daddy! Yay! You can do it! Come! Come! Walk! Walk!" etc....)

Sleepyhead

I love to go gai-gai at the park but hate to fall asleep there because I'd surely miss all the fun and excitement. So mummy, please make sure I've taken my nap before you bring me there again, ok.

I am a girl

Out of 10 strangers we meet who are friendly enough to say hello to me, 9 of them would think I’m a boy.

Scene 1: At the poolside
Auntie: Hello baby. Goochi-goochi-goo… boy ar?
Mummy: No, girl.
Auntie: Oh ya hor… I didn’t notice her pink dress.

Scene 2: In the lift
Elderly Uncle: Hallo boy! Boy-boy ar! It’s a boy, right?
Mummy: (Smiling) Girl lah…
Elderly Uncle: Hah? Girl ah? Looks like a boy leh.

Scene 3: In the lift (again)
An elderly auntie with a little baby enter after us.
Auntie: (Directing the little baby to look at me) Look... Kor-kor. Hello kor-kor. Kor-kor, right?
Mummy: (Smiling again) Jie-jie lah…
Auntie: Hah?! (Looking obviously shocked) Jie-jie ar? I thought he’s a kor-kor. She looks so much like a kor-kor (still looking surprised and in disbelief).

Mummy, do I really look like a boy? Or are strangers just being strange?

My new toys

I love my teddy bear...

My first convertible - The Stride-To-Ride Walker.

That's mummy teaching me how to press-press this new Musical Storytime Piano.

Heh heh heh... an Elmo bag!!

My Birthday Party

I celebrated my first birthday on Sunday, 12th August, the closest weekend to my actual day, 13th. It was a small and simple home party, exclusively for our immediate family members.

I put on my new clothes and shoes given by Ah Ma.

I got 2 red eggs from Mah Mah.

I smiled at the camera.

I played with my cousins. Actually, I kacau them, to be precise hehehe (while they were playing UNO Stacko).

I am 1 today!

It's my birthday today. Everyone said "Wow! How time flies. She's 1 already!" While mummy doesn't quite agree with that, I have no idea what it means.
Today, daddy took leave from work to be with me and mummy. In the morning, we went gai-gai in Midvalley. We met Yee Por (mummy's See Yee) there by chance. She bought me a set of lovely Poney blouse and skirt. Thank you very much, Yee Por!

After that, we went to AmBank where daddy and mummy opened a Junior Savings account for me to keep all my angpau $$$$$$$. The AmBank jie-jie gave me a camel coin box.

I had a really exciting day today going from place to place and playing with my new toys. I hardly took any nap the whole day. Therefore, I went to bed exceptionally early at 7:30pm.

To Mah Mah, Yeh Yeh, Koo Ma(s), Koo Koo, Ah Ma, Gung gung, Yee Ma, Kau Foo, Yee Por, daddy and mummy... thank you very much for the angpau and presents! I love you.

Naughty, Naughty!

I think mummy had a hard day with me today because I was a little bit naughtier than usual. Well, let the following pictures speak for themselves...

First thing in the morning... I played "Tasmanian devil" and turned my playpen into something that looked tornado-striken.

Later, while mummy was preparing my lunch in the kitchen, I entertained myself by playing "push-push chair" until I accidentally made a loud crashing sound that sent mummy out to end my game. Uh oh...

When mummy returned to the kitchen, I made sure I was extra careful and quiet this time. Too bad... that didn't work either. Mummy ALWAYS knew I was up to no good whenever I was unusually quiet.

"Mummy, let me help you with the laundry. Chuck this on the floor, throw this over there, toss this aside..." There... done!

Weekend Getaway

Daddy and mummy brought me along on their weekend getaway. They've finally stopped "dumping" me at Mah Mah's house. Yay!

Can you guess where did we go?

Peek-a-boo. Who are you? I really enjoyed playing with the kid in the mirror.

I also felt very excited to see a baby cot in the hotel room. "I wanna get in, I wanna get in!" But when daddy put me in, I wanted to get out instead. That night, I slept in a cot for the very first time.

My little antics

I can do kung-fu stunts while drinking my milk. See.... Heeeeyaaah!

Oh gosh, these red shoes are embarrassing me. Where shall I hide my face??

What do you want from me? All I have is a remote-control. Shoo... shoo....

At the Playground

Mummy takes me out for a walk at the poolside every day. Sometimes, she lets me play at the playground. I like to ride on this horsie...

and the swing...

and sit on this spring see-saw.

What is NO?

Dearest Mummy,

May I know what exactly does “No” mean? Do you realize that you repeat this word once in every 5 minutes? Why do you always say “No” when I:

- learn to open the car door while daddy is driving?
- stand right in front of the television to watch Barney close-up?
- help you mop the floor with my tongue?
- want a taste of everything you are eating?
- use your mobile phone to practice my throwing skill?
- prefer your flabby thigh or daddy’s arm to a teether?
- quickly hide my fingers in my mouth because you tell me they are dirty?

Why is this word so overused yet I don’t understand what it means? I hope I will find the answer soon so that mummy, you don’t have to say or grumble or yell “NO!” to me anymore.

Love,

Your confused little girl

I Can Stand

Mummy, I overheard you talking to daddy about me... something about "can't stand me" when I'm too naughty. Well mummy, you don't have to stand me anymore because I can now stand on my own. Look!

My Colourful Face

Yesterday, mummy took a good look at me and asked, "Aiyo BB, why is your face so colourful?"

That's because I fell from the sofa and knocked my head on the floor, leaving a “blue black” mark on my forehead, which then turned yellowish-greenish. The fine brown lines near my nose were caused by scratching. That pink patch between my eyebrows was the result of you neglecting me because I bumped my head again while playing on my own.

Have I answered your question, mummy?

Durian

The other day, something unusual made its way into my mouth... and tummy. It was soft, creamy, yellowish and sweet. It had a strong and stinky smell, but slightly more pleasant than my saliva-soaked bib. I saw everyone savouring it so I got curious and cried "Mummy, I want! I want!" It tasted yummy and I liked it.

Taman Tasik Perdana

Last Saturday, daddy and mummy brought me to Taman Tasik Perdana. It was my very first trip there. I had my eyes wide opened, marvelling at the beautiful park while trying to identify as many news things I could see.

While I enjoyed my stroller ride very much, I think mum and dad were struggling over something. I heard them panting and gasping for breath behind me, giggling and taking turns to push the stroller up the many steep slopes along the hilly park. It was a scenic and relaxing excursion for me, and a good workout for them!

It was also the first time where I got the chance to touch, sit and crawl on grass. Although I was not smiling at the camera (was too busy and distracted to), I did have lots of fun. I hope daddy and mummy will bring me here more often.

I Drive Her Crazy

I think mummy has gone crazy lately. She has been scolding and yelling at me for no reason. Cool down, mum. All I did was play with the switch on the electrical socket, push the hi-fi set to the edge of the table to see if it will fall on me, pull and tug at the cables under the table, play with detergent containers, lick the floor, bang the doors of the kitchen cabinets, climb up and down the sofa and stand right infront of the tv when you are watching your favourite program.

Hmm... I wonder what's wrong with that? Mummy just spanked me for repeating all of the above actions because I ignored her stern warnings again and again and again. Sigh... perhaps I should be more persistent and try again tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow she'll change her mind... or recover from her crazy spell.

11 months old

I am exactly 11 months old today. At 11 months, I like to make this ugly piggy face...
and pose on the sofa like this...

Baby Talk

Mummy has been trying really hard to teach me how to talk.

Mummy: Say "mama"
Me: "Ta"
Mummy: "Ma"
Me: "Dah"
Mummy: (haiya) Ok lah, say "ta-ta" (beat-beat)
Me: "Dadadadada"
Mummy: What about "papa"? Say "pa"
Me: "Bababababa"

I think I still need a lot more practice in this.

My Rocking Chair

Mah Mah (Daddy's mum) bought me a rattan rocking chair. It's comfy and I quite like it... but only when it is not rocking.

When it moves, I feel as if I am going to fall off. I don't feel safe. I'm scared. Please dad, stop rocking! Noooooo.... Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa......
