Blocks or Container?

Every now and then, I would stand in front of my opened cupboard and scan through the boxes of toys while trying to decide which toy to play with. Today, I chose this MegaBloks...

As usual, while the blocks remained scattered on the floor, I kept myself very busy with something else. Mummy felt I was more interested in the container because I spent more time playing with it than the blocks!!

I kept making all kinds of noises in it because the echoing sound was indeed music to my own ears haha!

The Hot Chick

At bed time, mummy felt that my room was a tad too warm so she asked if I would like to have the air-con switched on. To that, I replied:

Yes, of course! I am a hot-hot girl!

Hahaha!

What's All That Ruckus?

After dinner, daddy and mummy were talking as usual, filling the house with noisy chatter and laughter. I walked up to them and chided "What's all that ruckus?" At first, they couldn't quite get what I was saying so I repeated to them clearly, word by word "What's all that ruckus?"

Mummy was dumbfounded to hear the word "ruckus"! Later on, she had to summon the help of Google to find its definition *how embarrassing* (It means a noisy disturbance) Surprised that I had cleverly and accurately used this unusual vocab in the correct context, she asked me where did I learn it from.

My answer? --> Pete taught me. Haha! (Pete from the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse series).

Hmm... who says the tv is an idiot box??

Lazy Bum

Among all my daily activities at home, I hate reading and writing the most. Everyday, mummy has to "force" me to read* my books (word recognition and simple sentences) and do my writing. Very often, her initial loving approach will turn into pushing... and then nagging... and then scolding... and then shouting... and sometimes light beatings too, if I remain stubborn and choose to ignore any of her commands.

This evening, I was so extremely lazy, I stubbornly refused to write my letter A. When daddy overheard our commotion, he came over and sternly gave me 3 choices: "You either write, or get beat-beat or stand and hold your ears!" Without thinking at all, I straightaway replied "I want to stand!"

See, I'd rather stand to avoid doing my writing!

Later that night, during bedtime, on the bed, mummy asked me...

Mummy: Why were you so naughty just now? Mummy asked you to write A, why didn't you do it?
Me: Becaaaaaauuuuuse I am so lazy.
Mummy: Why are you lazy?
Me: Because I am Mr Lazy (from the Mr Men series)
Mummy: Cheh! Why do you want to be Mr Lazy?
Me: Becaaaaaauuuuuse I like lazy soooooooo much!
Mummy: *faint*

*I do LOVE books but only when it is read the fun way, minus the academic approach i.e. drilling me to recognize or spell or repeat the same old words.

Don't Want To Go Home

Before leaving for home, a visit to the Grand Salon was a must-do. It's a cosy lounge where we sank ourselves in the extra-large, comfy chairs and relaxed to some soft music, light snacks and tea (than-cha).

Lick, lick, lick... No, that's not a lollipop. It was only brown sugar...

... sugar for the tea actually, hehe!

Sweet and savoury delights: Yum-yum... I enjoyed eating the mini quiche, scones, baked potatoes, sandwiches, boxing chicken, cakes and pastries etc. and had quite a fair share of them.

When it was finally time to leave, I pleaded "Why do we have to go home? Can I stay here? I want to stay here".

Swimming at the Palace

Although I've been here many times, this was the first time I played in the hotel's swimming pool. We went to the pool at 2pm. It was deserted so the whole pool was practically ours!

See... the whole swimming pool to ourselves!

Wuahahaha! That was how ugly I looked after putting on that ill-fitting pair of goggles.

It's ok, daddy's here. I was terrified of the water at first and refused to let go of daddy's hand. I didn't trust the butterfly ring. I didn't quite believe that it would keep me afloat until much later.

Playing the beach ball with daddy

Safe in his arms... a tender moment with dad

I was also too faint-hearted to try the water-slide. I just sat there at the edge, and refused to move.

Hello from under the bridge.

Saying hello to cousin Leanne. Julie yi-yi and her family were there too.

After playing under the scorching sun for nearly 1 hour, mummy had to drag me out of the pool because I refused to leave.

A Very Special Day

5th Sept is a very special day for our family. It's the date of daddy and mummy's very first date. Without this day, they might not have ended up with each other and obviously, I wouldn't have existed at all.

Today marks daddy and mummy's 11th anniversary of being together. To commemorate this special day, we checked-in into our favourite hotel again and put up a night there.

Although we basically repeated the same old activities there, we still enjoyed and loved every single minute spent there...

Look, a golden unicorn!

Later in the evening, we went to the MINES Shopping Fair to have dinner because this was the place that they visited together exactly 11 years ago and dinner had to be Kenny Roger's Roasters (because that was what they had). However, they found out that the restaurant had relocated to an even better and more strategic place... beside the canal!

After dinner, we went shopping in the mall and returned to the hotel with a few bagful of goodies.

Look at how happy I was... wriggling and giggling and in daddy's loving arms.

Toys, Toys Everywhere

Although mummy has already given away some of my baby toys (the bulky ones), I still have boxes and boxes of other toys stashed away in almost every part of the house. My poor toys... they practically spend their time hidden in the closet because mummy dislikes the house to be littered with toys.

In my bedroom: Big boxes, small boxes... the toys occupy nearly half of the total space in my wardrobe. (There are actually more inside the the drawers, among my clothing)

My study table: Everytime mummy clears it for me, it gets cluttered again in no time. The toys do find their way back here fast! Hehe...

The living room: Dozens and dozens of small toys in my cute cow storage box

In the study room: two big boxes and a big plastic bag of soft toys

Delayed Response

I often do not apologize or show my gratitude immediately unless prompted by mummy to do so. Sometimes it can even be delayed until the whole issue has been totally forgotten...

Example 1: The Apology
Mummy and I were enjoying a light snack over tv when suddenly, very out of the blue...

Me: Sorry, mummy *guilty look*
Mummy: Huh? Sorry? What did you do?
Me: I played with water and wet my T-shirt lah!
Mummy: HUH??? (That was like 6 hours ago!)

Example 2: The Gratitude
Mummy and I were snuggled in bed, cuddling and whispering sweet nothings to each other when suddenly, very out of the blue again...

Me: Mummmmmmy....
Mummy: Yes?
Me: Thank you for the rice. It's very nice. I like *hug and smother mummy with kisses*
Mummy: HUH??? (You mean dinner? That was like 4 hours ago!!)

Hahaha! Well, that's me.

Learning Broken Mandarin

Both daddy and mummy are "bananas" (Chinese who are Chinese-illiterate). Realizing how inconvenient and "disabled" it is to be Chinese-illiterate, they have vowed to never let me become like them.

Determined to send me to a Chinese primary school later on, they are now trying their best to introduce the language to me. Sometimes mummy would talk to me in Mandarin but refusing to speak the language, I would reply in English instead. Mummy also likes to change the language of all my favourite Playhouse Disney programs to Mandarin! Since I can't understand it, I usually don't bother watching them at all...

Fortunately, I love books and books are my best teachers. However, most of the time, mummy struggles. She struggles to read the words in kindergarten-level books! Sometimes she pauses for a long time. Sometimes, she makes guesses. Sometimes she skips the page. Most of the time she frets and she's frustrated *wipes sweat*

Then she found books that have han yu pin ying and English explanations. She's happy to be able to read every word but she's still upset that her reading/intonation is somewhat out of tune.

Therefore, I'm forced to learn broken Mandarin (as for now)!

Independence Day

This is my version of independence day, in conjunction with our National Day - I have been sleeping on my own since the day I got my new bed. It has been more than 2 weeks now.

On the first night, I gladly slept on my own without making the slightest fuss! Daddy and mummy were extremely pleased, impressed and thrilled!

In the following nights, I did just as great. I slept through all the nights without making a sound except for a few days when I cried a little because:
1. I had a nightmare
2. I rolled off my bed and fell onto the lower trundle

I guess daddy and mummy had never expected such a smooth and easy transition. Training me to sleep on my own was indeed a breeze for them.

Not only that, I also slept with the lights off. I didn't even need a dim light or night light. Every morning when I wake up, I will also make my bed by arranging the pillow nicely and pushing in the lower trundle, without being told.

For this, I think I deserve every word of compliment there is...

Bravo! Good job! I did it!

Can't Live Without Going To The Mall

After only 1 weekend of not going to a mall, mummy kinda went into a "no-shopping withdrawal syndrome" so we went for a very short stroll in Sunway Pyramid today. We went there first thing in the morning, when parking spaces were ample and there was less crowd.

Our main objective of coming here was to play in the Enfa Smart Camp. After getting the goodie bag and the mystery gift, we had lunch followed by a short walk.

Just when it was starting to get crowded, we left. As soon as our car zoomed out of the covered parking, I was surprised to see the bright sunshine and exclaimed "Hey, why we simply go home? It's not dark yet!" Hahahaha! It's funny how I used the word "simply".

Here are the freebies in the goodie bag...

There was a T-shirt, tissue box cover, colouring and sticker book, additional stickers, milk samples, a DIY windmill and a CD. I also received a cap and 3 colourful rubber wrist bands while playing the games there.

Mummy also bought 2 tins of milk powder for me with these free gifts, thus expanding the variety on my existing cut-and-play masak-masak set.

Not A Very Happy Meal

Mummy bought me my very 1st Happy Meal from McDonald's today. Fastfood is quite a rare treat for us because mummy follows a health-freak diet whenever possible. Most of our McD visits are only for the sake of enjoying a sundae and if there's a playground there, it's for me to play there.

Well, she bought this Happy Meal for me because she was attracted by the Tamagotchi toy haha. She got me a set of chicken nuggets with french fries and Milo. Guess what? I REFUSED to eat the nuggets. I did not even want to take a look at it, sniff it or touch it, let alone eat it. I was also not interested in the Milo. However, I LOVED the flattened fries and ate only that (flattened because mummy squeezed out the excess oil with a big pile of serviettes).

Mummy had to add a bit of angry tone in her voice, put on her angry face and force me to take a bite of the nuggets. Very unwillingly, I obliged and took a teeny-weeny bite. That was it. I didn't like it at all. Daddy offered me a bite of his burger and I didn't like it either.

In a way, mummy was both disappointed and glad that I didn't like the meal. Disappointed because I didn't have a proper lunch and she had to look for something else for me. Glad because I'm not into junk food and she has one less problem to worry about.

Mummy says I'm quite an unusual kid. I also dislike sweets and candies. While most kids fuss their way to have these little treats, I actually reject them when they are given to me!

I'd Rather Sleep In The Tub Too

Before this, it was I'd rather sleep on the floor. Today, I'd rather sleep in the tub instead. It is this same place and same spot that I like to sleep almost every afternoon but today, mummy didn't allow me to sleep on the floor because it has been raining day and night and the floor was too cold. So I reached out for the bathtub and...

Like this also can sleep haha...

A Day With My Cousins

Bored of the mundane routine of staying at home facing mummy everyday, we decided to do something different today. We went to 4th Yee Por's house to play with ZK and ZW, my cousins. Julie yi-yi came to pick us up in the morning, together with cousin Leanne.

At first, being a very shy and timid girl, I just sat down and stared at the kids. It took me about 15 minutes to warm-up to them and play with them.

We played jigsaw puzzles, toys and read books together

Posing for a photo with the boys...

After lunch, we proceeded to Julie yi-yi's house to continue with another session of play, with an entirely different set of toys and books.

Playing the cash register with Leanne

I was the copycat here, imitating Leanne's every movement instead of the other way around haha.

Sek-sek (embracing) my little sister

Later in the evening, daddy came to fetch us home, after work. It was a very fun but tiring day...

Di-ven't

What's that?

Well, coined by me, this word is uniquely mine. Pronounced as dee-ven, it's actually a cross between "didn't" and "haven't" because I'm always too confused to choose between these two words. Here's how it is used...

- You diven't make my milk for me yet.
- No, I diven't put it there.
- We diven't ride on the horse that day.

Big Appetite Day

On a normal day, I am quite a small eater and would usually stick to my 3 main meals, 3 servings of milk and very little snack. Today, I ate exceptionally much more...

Breakfast
- 8oz milk
- 1 medium-sized banana
- 1 slice wholemeal bread with 1/2 slice of cheese

Lunch
- Animal pasta in anchovies soup with spinach, corn, egg and wolfberries
- 1 Twiggies

My heavy lunch...

Afternoon Snack
- 8oz milk
- 2 pieces of oats biscuits
- a handful of blueberries

Dinner
- Rice with chicken, potato, carrot & onion stew and stirfried siew pak choy
- 1/4 of a fairly large apple

My dinner and "dessert"...

Night Snack
- 1/8 piece of a mooncake
- 8oz milk

It all started when I kept asking for the Twiggies (that mummy bought for me on our way back from the kindy) during lunch. Mummy said no and insisted that I finished my lunch first. It was quite a big bowl of animal pasta that mummy did not expect me to finish. Surprisingly, I did.

I continued to request for my Twiggies. Mummy said no again and asked me to wait a little while more. She was afraid that I would over-stuff myself. I made a small fuss and told her "but I'm not bao-bao (full) yet!" I walloped the whole Twiggies immediately after lunch and left not even a crumb behind!

For the rest of the day, I continued to eat and eat and eat... It's indeed very rare to see me eat as much as I did today. ~Burp!~
