When My Folks Ignore Me...

... I learn to do things on my own, for myself!

There are days when daddy and mummy are too busy to entertain my request for something, like that day when I asked mummy to teach me to play a new piece on the piano. Mummy was busy cooking and I couldn't wait for her to finish so I learned to play it by myself... and I did it! I learn to play all new pieces on my own now... it is a good way to improve my sight-reading!

When (I think) nobody is watching, I sit like this while playing the piano @-@

Recently, I had a shaky tooth again. I pleaded with daddy (my personal "dentist") many times to help me pull it out but he kept saying "later". He felt that the tooth was not loose enough for manual extraction (with his bare hands). Desperate to end the pain, discomfort and misery caused by the dangling tooth, I pulled it out on my own! *proud*

Shaky and painful tooth no more, thanks to... myself! :)

Rice and Dirt for Dinner

Last night, mummy cooked my favourite dishes for dinner... pan-fried fish, tomato omelette and stir-fried greens with bunapi mushroom. I was so happy with my big bowl of rice (sprinkled with chia seeds) that I kept praising and thanking her as I shoved mouthful after mouthful of rice into my mouth. However, not even halfway through my meal, the bowl suddenly "skidded" off the dining table, plunged 3ft down and landed upside down on the floor with rice and everything else scattered on my lap and all over the floor! Luckily the bowl was an unbreakable stainless steel.

Needless to say, mummy was fuming mad!!! Mad because this was the result of her repeated warnings gone unheeded. You see, I have this bad habit of not holding the bowl when I eat (I usually eat with a bowl and spoon only). I like to eat with just one hand, allowing the bowl to move about on the frictionless glass-top dining table. The other hand is usually idle or used to entertain distractions... touch this, touch that. "HOLD THE BOWL" is screamed at me almost every day but it wasn't until last night that I finally realised the need to do so.

Ok, back to the mess. I was forced to pick up everything on the floor... every single grain and morsel. AND I was told to eat it all up, dirt and all. Mummy did not care anymore if that would make me sick (the floor was actually quite clean because she just wiped it). She was fed up of nagging me and she just wanted me to deal with the consequences of my stubbornness. I was also made to wipe the floor 3 times and to make sure there was no oily or sticky residue left on the floor. I did everything as told, in complete silence (only opened my mouth once to apologise).

When asked how did I like the "gar liu" (added ingredient) rice, I just smiled. No comments. Hahaha! Evil or not, my mummy?

Continue eating my rice scooped up from the floor... a little bit of dirt does the body no harm and it still tastes good anyway haha :p

Note: I eat alone at the dining table most of the time because it is cluttered with my school books (half done homework), leaving no space for mummy and daddy. They prefer to have TV dinner on the living room sofa ;)

The Way I Sit

I have many quirky habits and one of them is the way I sit when I'm dining out. Yes, I like to sit like this when I'm dining out, although I've been warned many times by mummy to sit properly!

Because of my "creative way" of sitting, I've actually fallen off the chair a few times! However, the few accidents did not deter me at all and I still continue to sit like this until now. My reason:  It's very comfortable and it feels nice *Mummy and daddy shake head*

How not to fall when I'm sitting at the edge of the seat like this?

The Midnight Migration

I have been sleeping on my own (in my own bedroom) since I was 3 years old. However, of late, I have been fleeing my room daily to co-sleep with daddy and mummy, no thanks to my incessant nightmares and self-scaring imaginations about monsters, ghosts and what-not.

Every morning, quite punctually between 3-4am, I would wake up, pack my belongings (put my bed buddies into the vomit bucket and bring them with me), take my bolster along, switch off the ceiling fan, sneak over to daddy and mummy's room, climb up their bed, squeeze myself into the tiny space between them and continue with my sleep. I have been doing this for at least 3 months now!

Mummy finds it amusing to see me repeating the same routine every day. The funniest is when she sees the vomit bucket right above her head on her pillow every morning. I bring the vomit bucket with me wherever I go because I am very prone to vomiting, especially when I cry or cough.

Daddy and mummy hope that this nomadic habit of mine will stop soon. Although their bed is considered large (extended king-size), there is hardly enough space to accommodate the three six of us for a comfortable night's sleep. Why six?

... because joining us on the bed are 3 full-sized bolsters, which are nearly as "fat" as us haha!

Bad Habit 1

I have this weird habit of putting things into my ears. Mummy always says "no" and tells me it's dangerous but I just can't help it. Sometimes, I'll even grab one of her fingers, insert it into my ear and give it a gentle twist. I wonder if this is normal...
