Daddy's Home!

Daddy came back late last night from his 6-day business trip to Taiwan. This was the first time mummy and I were left alone in a foreign land... just the two of us for almost a week. While he was away, I had some "security issues" at home every night.

Obviously, I didn't feel very secure when the man of the house was not around. Every night at bedtime, I would remind mummy over and over again if she had double-locked the main door. I would check the windows to make sure they were closed too, although mummy told me that Shanghai is relatively very much safer than KL/PJ. Over here, house break-ins are very rare and snatch thefts on the streets are almost unheard of. But I still felt safer with daddy around ;)

Anyway, daddy's home and I can go to bed with peace in my mind again :)

Video-chatted with daddy almost every night before going to bed as usual

Due to his tight schedule, he did not have time to go shopping this time but he still did not come home empty-handed. Here are the little bit of local snacks that he got from a nearby mini market (mini market also sells a wide range of Hello Kitty merchandise!). The junkie snacks were all taken from his hotel room mini bar (FOC and replenished daily) while the French chocolate on the left was a last minute purchase at the airport...

A little something for his girls :p

The Way I Sit

I have many quirky habits and one of them is the way I sit when I'm dining out. Yes, I like to sit like this when I'm dining out, although I've been warned many times by mummy to sit properly!

Because of my "creative way" of sitting, I've actually fallen off the chair a few times! However, the few accidents did not deter me at all and I still continue to sit like this until now. My reason:  It's very comfortable and it feels nice *Mummy and daddy shake head*

How not to fall when I'm sitting at the edge of the seat like this?

Golden Kiwi

Mummy and I were in Giant for our weekly grocery shopping last week. Once again, mummy told me that I could pick one item as a reward for being a good girl. She repeatedly stressed on the word ANYTHING. Yes, I could have anything in the store, anything that I liked!

Mummy was prepared to get me some snacks (she doesn't ban junkfood 100%) while we were browsing at the candies, biscuits and tidbits aisle. Surprisingly, I just kept quiet and did not ask for anything. As soon as we reached the Fresh Market (fruits and vegetables) section, I suddenly asked...

"Mummy, can you buy yellow kiwifruit for me? I tried it in school and I like it. Buy it for me ok. Please?

Of course mummy bought it for me. Moreover, it was on offer that day :)

Golden kiwi and grapes for my afternoon snack... because I made this healthy selection, I'll get another reward on our next shopping trip ;)

It's very sweeeeeet. Love it!

Bye-Bye, Milk Bottle

Alright, first of all, mummy is quite ashamed to admit that she still gives me milk in a milk bottle although I am fast approaching 5 years old. While I am addicted to my milk bottle, mummy doesn't mind delaying the switch because drinking from a milk bottle is the very last baby trait in me that she enjoys looking at hahaha.

Well, it all started when mummy accidentally left my milk bottle in Ah Ma's house (in Seremban) three weekends ago. With a heavy heart, she decided to seize the opportunity to ditch the bottle.

That very first night without my milk bottle, mummy made my milk in a cute Mickey Mouse mug to encourage me to drink from a cup. I made a small fuss and told her I didn't want a mug with cartoon prints on it. I wanted the plain glass. "I want the plain glass. Give me the plain glass and DON'T give me the Mickey Mouse cup anymore..." I whined. What an unusual kid I am!

A big no-no to cups with cartoons (I later told mummy that I didn't like cups with handles... duh!)

Glug, glug, glug... mmmmmmm! I still love my milk in anything they come in :)

That's it. I did ask for my milk bottle after we brought it home recently but mummy continued to use the glass and I did not protest at all. It was THAT easy. So it's time to say bye-bye to my milk bottle for good and here's a collection of the bottles that I've used from birth until now...

One year one bottle (not counting the small one on the left, which was for water)... goodbye to them all :(

Attempting to hold the water bottle at 4 months old

Holding the bottle on my own at 8 months old

One of mummy's favourite macro shots of me drinking my milk (19 months old)

Look Ma, no hands... can barely open my eyes in the morning (on most days)

Very "tarn" (enjoy)... one of the last few pics of me drinking from the bottle

Note: I started drinking from milk bottles since I was a day old because I refused to latch on mummy. I drank EBM (expressed breast milk) until I was 5 months old (until the supply ran low).

To Shoe With Love

It was just a pair of cheap fakes from the pasar malam but I loved it to bits. Mummy has never seen me adore something this much, well, at least not something that isn't a toy or a book.

Hello Kitty "Crocs" from the night market

At home, the shoes and I were inseparable. Mummy had it scrubbed squeaky clean and since it has never been worn outside the house, she allowed me to wear it at home. For days, I had it put on while...

watching tv...

eating...

playing...

... or just walking around the house

One night, at around midnight, when mummy came over to my bedroom put on socks for me (in the darkness), she stepped on something rubbery at the foot of my bed. She chuckled to herself when she realized it was my shoe...

I even brought it to bed hahaha!

The Morning Goodbye

Every morning, as early as 7:15am, just before daddy leaves for work, I will automatically leap out of my bed, rush to the main door to give him goodbye hugs and kisses. Very often, I would get carried away at the door, as daddy walks away...

Goodbye daddy!
Enjoy your drive!
Enjoy your day at work!
Have fun at work!
Have a nice day at work!
Happy holidays when you come back! (Hahaha! Mummy finds this amusing)
So long! But not too long... come back before the sky turns dark. Come back when it's still daytime! (And this too)
Promise!
I love you!
I love you, daddy!
I miss you!
See ya!

Really cheong-hei. Sometimes when I'm over cheong-hei (long-winded) and daddy has already entered the lift and doesn't respond to me, I will shed some tears and start calling and whining "daddy... daddy *sobs*... daddy *sobs*... dadddddyyyyyyyy *cry*......"

*mummy rolls eyes in her sleep... oh no, not again!* Here's why.

Totally unrelated picture...
... but the same true blue daddy's girl... must stick to him like this when having my toenails trimmed

The Contrast

Daddy took these photos...

... and asked mummy if she noticed anything funny about it. Mummy couldn't tell, so he said "Can't you see? A Lego forklift running over the dolled-up pretty Princesses?" Haha, yes, it was indeed quite a funny sight... me in my pink, girly and princess-y bedroom... but playing with boys' toys. What a mismatched combination! From young, I've always loved boys' toys...

I even slept with the forklift parked next to my pillow haha... I like to go to bed with my favourite toy beside me

One moment love it to bits, the next moment smash it to bits *horrors*

Moved to Tears

For the very first time, daddy and mummy witnessed a very emotional and compassionate side of me while I was watching a movie called Barbie as Rapunzel on Channel 616 (Cartoon Network) last night.

(Pic taken from Google image)

Surprisingly, I could understand the storyline very well. I was completely absorbed in the movie and sat through the entire show. Halfway through, when Gothel destroyed Rapunzel's paintbrush and paintings and transformed her bedroom into a tall tower, I cried out "NO, NO!! I don't want that to happen! I don't want to watch anymore! I don't want to watch anymore". I was so worked-up and agitated, I wept silently.

Poor thing... noticed the drop of tear on my chin?

Mummy had to console me and tell me that it's only a story while daddy comforted me and told me to wait for the happy ending. After watching the happy ending, I got my smile back :)

Post-Holiday Depression

For the very first time in the history of my school life, I ponteng-ed school yesterday (because we only came back from HK yesterday). I think I must be the perfect attendance "record-holder" in my class and have never been absent, not even for a day, since I started school on 4th Jan.

Well, I finally went back to school today. Although we reached home quite late yesterday (at about 8pm), mummy felt that it wasn't an excuse for me to skip school today.

And guess what? I cried. I cried the next day too. And the next, for one whole week! My teacher said some kids are like that. Mummy thinks I may be suffering from post-holiday depression. I think I miss my holiday...

TV Talk

Help! There's a tv addict in our house...

Talk 1 - Can't Live Without PHD
Mummy: Tomorrow you go to Mah-mah's house and stay there for a night, ok?
Me: (After asking a few questions on why I need to be there) But I don't like to stay there.
Mummy: Why not?
Me: Because there don't have Playhouse Disney!

Talk 2 - Lamest Excuse
Me: This cartoon is not nice.
Mummy: Not nice don't watch. Switch off the tv.
Me: Eehh (protest sound) But I like it a little bit....
Mummy: *What kind of excuse is that?*

Talk 3 - Fighting Over TV Channels With Daddy
Daddy: It's my turn!
Me: It's my turn!
Daddy: What do you mean it's your turn? You've been watching it the whole day. My turn!
Me: It's my tv!
Daddy: *Huh? Since when?*

The Morning Tears

Every morning, it is a must for daddy to kiss and hug me before he leaves for work. This is how important the morning goodbye is. However, there are days when daddy forgets about this ritual or he simply does not want to disrupt my sweet slumber. Sometimes I am fine with it but sometimes I am not!

This morning, I woke up, leaped out of bed and frantically dashed to the living room, searching for daddy. Realizing that I was too late and that he had already left for work, I burst into heavy tears. Sleepy-head and lazy-bum mummy just ignored me until my loud bawl was reduced to quiet sobs...

Kesian *mummy's heart broke a little*

Sitting at my "naughty corner" with a very sad and pathetic look, I muttered to mummy "I want my daddy *sniffle*" Awww... She quickly scooped me into her loving arms and gave me all the hugs and kisses that I wanted, on daddy's behalf. I felt so comforted and loved, I could finally smile again...

I Don't Like Ice Age!

It was supposed to be my very first movie in the cinema today. We've been talking about it for weeks! I was eager and excited. I wanted to eat popcorn in the dark-dark cinema... that was until I found out that we were going to watch Ice Age 3. My first reaction was "I DON'T WANT!!!" After much coaxing and persuasion by daddy and mummy, I still flatly refused and even retorted "I DON'T LIKE ICE AGE! I don't want, I don't want, I don't waaaaaaaaant...."

So near yet so far... we were already at the lobby of the Cathay cinema at Cineleisure

Why so anti-Ice Age, you might ask. Well, I don't like the dinosaur. It's very ugly. Mummy and daddy were like... aiyah, don't want, don't want lah... sai-hei. How to force me? So we just spent the whole day (10 hours) shopping at The Curve, Ikea, Ikano and Tesco.

The Morning Goodbye

For nearly 2 months, I have been consistently waking up quite early at 7am every morning. Every working morning without fail. Why?

... because I want to hug and kiss daddy before he leaves for work. Daddy must first kiss me to wake me up on my bed. Then I'll jump out of bed and follow him to the front entrance for a 2nd round of goodbye hugs and kisses.

What happens if daddy leaves for work quietly without waking me up? I'd cry, of course! Cry and cry and cry while whining "I wanna kiss daddy... Waaaaaaa... I wanna hug-hug daddy... Waaaaaaaa...." This happened a few times when I woke up, couldn't find him and thought he had left (but he was still somewhere in the house). *Mummy shakes head*

Just Like Her

I like to imitate the way mummy talks and the things she says. It tickles mummy to see me echoing her words back at her so often...

- Sometimes when I talk to her and she doesn't respond, I'll ask in frustration "Are you listening or not?" just like her.

- Whenever mummy accidentally drops some crumbs while eating, I'll go "See, so messy! Mummy, don't make messy-messy ar!" just like her.

- Sometimes when I see that she's about to eat something, I'll ask "Is your hand clean?" or "Did you wash your hand?" just like her.

- When I'm preoccupied with something (usually with some toys), I'll warn her "Mummy, don't disturb me, I'm doing some work!" just like her.

- And when she makes some silly mistakes, I'd go "You ar....." just like her.

The Half-Son

Besides being a daughter, I sometimes play the role of a son as well. Daddy likes to buy me boys' toys such as cars (the whole collection of Ferraris from Shell), balls, trucks, remote control cars, trains, robots etc. His reason is simple: So that he can play with me comfortably. (Imagine him playing girly stuffs with me? Hahaha!)

I love boy toys

What about mummy? Well, she sometimes buys me boys' clothings. She even calls me BB-boy or Naughty Boy occasionally, just for fun. (No, she's not yearning for a son)

Not very happy to be in this boy's outfit

My Frown is My Smile

We celebrated Mah-mah's belated birthday today (actual date 17/4). It was a happy occasion and I showed my happiness... by frowning.

I frowned when Nelson koo-jeong kissed my hand...

I frowned when we took a family photo.

I frowned at the cake...

I frowned while helping Mah-mah to cut the cake.

I frowned after eating the cake.

I frowned when I was being photographed again and again...
