Sports Day

My school's annual sports day was held last Friday on 1st Nov. It was an unusually hot and sunny day and the unexpected warmth was a nice surprise for us (weather has been rather gloomy and chilly in the past few weeks). 

Daddy took time off from work to attend this event with mummy. They reached my school very early and roamed around taking photos before the event started at 9am...

The mini "obstacle course" for the 1st and 2nd Graders. The real track and field events were for the older kids (Grades 3-6).

Eagerly waiting for my turn... I took part in an inter-class race where I had to do the following...

First, I had to kick a ball around the cones...

Followed by this "crocodile crawl"...

And then rope-skipping (which I struggled a bit cos I couldn't skip smoothly)...

And lastly, spinned around with a bat 3 times...

... and threw a frisbee into a net!

My class 2R emerged as champions. We won 3 goodie bags. Yay!

Daddy and I took part in a family game too

The adults/parents had balloons tied to their feet...

We, the kids, had fun stepping on them to pop them. Daddy then received a small token for participation.

Family Day

Last Saturday, we had a very fun outing in daddy's company's Family Day. This fun occasion was one of the many events held to commemorate the company's 25th anniversary. The weather was extremely good and that was one crucial "requirement" met because all the activities were held outdoors, in the parking lot of the factory compound...

Yes, daddy works in a semiconductor factory and hence contributes to "Made in China" goods. We have since learned not to look down on things that are Made in China hahahaha! If you own a smartphone, camera or drive a luxury car, there is a high chance of them containing electronic components made in this factory ;)

These "grains" are actually made of plastic so we were told.

... as well as something more "violent" like Sumo wrestling

There were quite a lot of activities for kids... I enjoyed doing sand art too

We had lunch at the factory cafeteria but it was a catered meal from McD. I squealed in delight when I saw the Happy Meal box! :) However, they didn't serve fries (which was a good thing) and it was replaced by a grapefruit instead. 

These were all stuffed inside my Happy Meal box. Daddy had 4 meal vouchers so we had 4 of everything which was way too much for us to finish. We ended up lugging around 3 bottles of Coke, 2 grapefruits and 2 pieces of chicken chop... until we reached home!

Daddy brought us for a factory tour. The screens on the right are actually videos of the production floor in real time. He showed us his work station so now we know what daddy does at work every day :)

At the end of the event, we made some gift redemptions. There were not many choices left (all the good gifts were snapped up) so we went for these made-on-the-spot ones...

Candy art... "drawn" with caramelised sugar/maltose syrup and placed on a stick to resemble a lollipop

Mummy ordered a giraffe one for me and the uncle got it done in under 30 seconds. Amazing!

And finally, we also redeemed a Dove toiletries pack and this cute "pillow" shaped like a bunch of bananas :)

Farewell, Yeh Yeh

Yeh Yeh (my paternal grandfather) has left us for an eternal rest on 30th July 2012, after a short illness. Throughout the funeral, I was exceptionally obedient and well-behaved. I did everything that was told and did not do those that were prohibited. On several occasions, I even walked to the casket on my own to glance at my beloved Yeh Yeh, after which I told mummy "I am very sad because Yeh Yeh died already" :'-(

10th Sports Carnival at Sunway Lagoon - Part 1

We had an awesome, fun-filled day in Sunway Lagoon yesterday (Sunday 22/4) at my kindergarten's 10th Sports Carnival. I had lots of fun and came home giddy with happiness and excitement that lasted until the next day (today)!

I wanted this event noted down in my blog and told mummy... "Mummy you start like this... One day, a little girl went to Sunway Lagoon and won a lot of prizes! You must write like that ok". Hahaha!

*Excited* We woke up at 6:15am and reached the Surf Beach before 7:30am

Yipee yay! Sunway Lagoon, here we come again!

The Sports Carnival is held once in every 2 years. We also attended the previous event (the 9th) back in July 2010

Since we were early, we headed to the Creative Corners (game and activity booths) to while away some time...

I played almost all the games and won many small and cute gifts here

I did not help daddy with the sandcastle (I felt bored after a few minutes) and sneaked away to join my friends in the pool

Telematch time! I took part in 2 events... the "squeeze water into a bottle challenge" and the "drag the giant floatie race".

Go, go red team! However, no thanks to some kiasu parents who kept "taking over" the kids' roles and ignoring the games marshall's repeated warnings, our team was disqualified in the first event :(

Enjoying my Colonel burger... this is probably my second time eating KFC, a very rare treat indeed.

Throughout the event, there were non-stop announcements for all the lucky draw, games, best this-and-that and competition winners. While having our lunch, one of the announcements caught our attention. Surprise, surprise! Daddy nearly choked on his chicken when we were announced the first prize winners of the Sand-Sculpting Competition!

1st prize winners... it's unbelievable!!! Honestly, we really did not deserve this win and felt sorry for the other teams who came up with much better designs than ours! *shy*

Finally... leftover gifts up for grabs just before the carnival ended!

Our prizes and goodie bags... both daddy and mummy suffered from sore arms after lugging these HEAVY stuff (including our personal belongings of bags, clothing, water etc.) from the theme park to the carpark, which was quite a distance away!

The most fun part... opening our presents! These two yellow boxes are the biggest prizes that we brought home. A very big thank you to the sponsors for their very generous contributions!

You'd be surprised to know what I picked as my favourite present here... The Hot Wheels toy car set!
